Spring: A Photo Essay

In between storms and before the sun went down today, I went out into our back yard with Eliza and the dogs to get some fresh air. I decided to take the camera out to capture some moments with this adorable, now 22 month old. Before I knew it I was so inspired by our Spring surroundings. It could have been the glasses of wine, but I think it was because I was capturing some of the most beautiful things...right in our own backyard...and in less than 15 minutes.

Good ol' Murphy keeping watch

Henry-dumb as dirt but so handsome

I have turned into a "bird nerd"lately by reading "Birds of Idaho" and keeping a feeder full. Our trees are full of nests and baby birds keeping their parents busy. A pair of Quail have been coming to feed but I missed them. While taking pictures I was thinking it would be so nice to see our friend the Wood Duck and a few minutes later he was cruising down the canal! However, he is very camera shy and fly away as soon as I came close to the fence.

Mourning Dove

Sparrow in my favorite Magnolia tree

Mallards

Red-winged Blackbird

The Lilacs were the first things we planted when we moved here

I planted these strawberries today and the first of our garden beds

My favorite thing to capture by far...

If only I could have captured the spring smells, especially after the rain. The sounds were amazing though. Here is a little audio of the moment including Eliza singing her "Daddy" song and the bird families chirping away.
