Birthday Breakfast
Whoa. We officially have a 3 year old. That is like having a real kid, not just a baby or toddler anymore! I am happy to say we were able to celebrate Eliza's birthday without the drama of being in the hospital or making her share the day with a new brother or sister. When we got her out of bed we had our gift waiting for her in the living room. Her eyes enlarged when she saw the nice red jogging stroller meant only for her and the 20 Stroller Strides workouts she does each day. We had Eliza's favorite breakfast of pancakes, bacon and chocolate milk and moved on to Stroller Strides at Settler's Park. Of course we had to take the new stroller and show it to her friends after class. Her dear friend Olive bought her a snow cone and we hung out in the grass enjoying the finest things in life (sweet treats and warm sunny days at the park with friends). We met my mom and Larry for lunch at Seasons and then rounded out the day with having all the close family members over for dinner. Thank goodness for last minute and easy things like pizza and ice cream cakes.
Eliza is planning how she can torture her parents with her new doctor kit. I have never had my blood pressure taken so many times a day.

Eliza is truly one of the sweetest kids I know. She watches and observes, is particular about putting things in their correct place, is one of the best buddies to have around, is always ready to go do something with me, loves her family and has a kind heart and soul. Her new favorite saying is "That's O.K.!"We could all use a dose of positive attitude when we have spilled our milk for the 3rd time in one day.
Aside from the presents, food and family gatherings, this day represents so much more. Birthdays are not just a way to keep track of how old you are. They are to celebrate the fact you are here in the world now and have wonderful years ahead to learn and grow. I completely understand when mom's call their kids on their birthday to tell them "25 years today I was in the hospital...." What they are really trying to say is :
You changed my life forever on this day
I couldn't imagine my life without you
I laugh, am happy, stress and worry more than I could ever imagine
I am completely in love with you
