A lifetime in 6 years

I had to make a separate post to acknowledge our 6 year wedding anniversary which was last Sunday. I wish we could have had a more exciting and romantic celebration. However, we were just coming home from over a week with the family so it wasn't going to happen with laundry, unpacking and cleaning to do. It made me sad to think we didn't do anything to celebrate. Money and time are tight lately though. I did spend a lot of time reflecting on our married life so far.
In the years following our wedding we have been hit with a lifetime of heartbreaking challenges: brain cancer diagnosis for my brother, death of my uncle from a brain tumor weeks later, my beloved dog Jackson dying, my grandmother Evelyn dying, my diagnosis of MS, his cousin battling cancer and 3 pregnancy losses. Yikes, if I was Lucas I would run for the hills since 99% of these things were from me!
However, we have had many more spectacular experiences: the arrival of Eliza, amazing vacations to Hawaii, Spain, river trips, a nice home, good jobs and everyday fun with our friends and family. We also have happiness. When you have been around an unhappy person you learn that you can't buy everything in life.
If we can pack that much into 6 years...wow. We are going to have an amazing rest of our lives.
