First, we had Dana and her baby Dilan who traveled here for a week from
Spain. We didn't get to see them this summer so it was great to catch up with her for a few days.
Can you tell he is not dressed like any other American boy!
Next my dear friend April and her husband Tim who live in Michigan came for a week. April and I have known each other since 4th grade and the only thing I hate about her coming to visit is knowing that she has to leave. She is the best. April is the one who encouraged me to see my doctor and have an MRI.
Unfortunately Eliza and I got sick so we couldn't do all that we had planned with them. April and Tim did come and hang out with us for a day and brought Eliza the most wondeful gifts to help her out in her kitchen. Eliza was quite thrilled.
The grand finale was my brother Erik, his wife Katie and my niece Anna coming to visit from Phoenix. As soon as they arrived we went to Tamarack for the weekend along with my mom and Larry. It was fantastic to get out of this inversion and see the sun! We had yummy meals and great skiing.

After Tamarack we went home to celebrate Anna's 2nd birthday and the Cardinals making it to the SuperBowl!!!

Once the crowds disappeared the next thing in our life was to start my treatment. We had a nurse come to our house to teach us how to do everything. I will do most of the injections and then have Lucas help me with the hard to reach areas.
I have completed 2 injections and am doing well. I will do them every other day from here on out. I have been feeling pretty good so far. I have been taking naps (while Eliza naps) almost every day which is hard because that is the only time I have to work, do things for myself etc. I have also been having some intestinal cramping during the night after my injections.
Every two weeks I will increase the amount I am injecting until I reach the full dosage. This is to keep the side effects down (flu-like symptoms, depression etc.) and allow your body time to adjust.
My last spasm was on Christmas Eve...until today. I was just about to start my "Sibling Prep." class at the hospital when I could feel my leg and arm start to lock up. I had to act like my leg was falling asleep, sit down and continue the class without frightening these young kids and their families. More embarrassing than anything, but I pulled it off. Things could be a lot worse I guess.
It does feel good to have started my treatment and hopefully decrease the amount of damage being done to my nerves. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Now we just need the inversion to lift.

glad to hear the beginning is going well. hopefully it continues to be that way. again, i would be more than willing to take eliza sometime so that you could get things done you normally do during nap time. i know that she doesn't know us but the boys would love playing with her. just let me know!
