I made it though the lumbar puncture (spinal tap) yesterday! I was very, very anxious about the proceedure and was elated when it was over. The worst part by far was having to fast all day and then wait an hour to even get the proceedure started. It should be illegal to have a fasting person take care of an active toddler as well.
The nurses and neuro-radiologist were fantastic. I thought a flu shot was more uncomfortable than the needles they used. The good ol' hypnobirthing I used during labor helped a lot too to take my mind away. It took about 10 minutes to get the spinal fluid they needed and then it was all over. Until I sat up....I could feel the "brain fuel gauge" register that something was not right as gravity took over. I haven't had any headaches but a lot of pressure and fatique throughout my body. All I can do it rest and wait for my body to heal.
A huge thank you to one of my dearest friends Claire who brought us food (the best thing you can ever do for someone) and an adorable teddy bear hat for Eliza (handmade by her sister). Another dear friend Ashley is on her way over with more food and entertainment (her daughter Maryn). I am tearful right now thinking about these and so many other special people in my life. Gramma Doris spent the afternoon yesterday and almost all of today with Eliza. Those who have chased around a 17 mo. old child know it isn't easy and especially if you are almost 80 yrs. old! What an amazing woman.
With all of this time to think, I am trying to figure out how to let people know how thankful I am. Flowers, a fruit basket....no, not enough. I wish I could dedicate fireworks in their honor to explode every night:) Thank you!
We should have results from the LP in a week...the next MRI is scheduled Jan. 7th.

Christina...
So glad to hear you're feeling as well as you are! (I've heard nasty stuff about the ol' spinal tap.)
We're always happy to spend some play date time with Eliza if you ever need a break! She brings us lots of sunshine (as do you!)
