Well I guess I have a good excuse when I forget something or loose my mind..."it is the abnormal spots in my brain!"
Monday we received the results of the MRI/MRA I had last Friday. After meeting with the neurologist, Dr. Karin Lindholm, she explained that I have two different abnormal things going on. First, I have a benign vascular malformation in the right side of my brain that more than likely is causing the spasms/numbness in my left leg and arm. Second, I have white matter around my temporal lobe that is suggestive of a demyelinating process (covering around the nerves breaking away) such as multiple sclerosis.
I had an EEG or a brain wave test yesterday where they hook up electrodes around your head and test your brain activity. It came back normal which is good as far as risk of seizures goes.
Monday at 1:00pm I am scheduled to have an LP (lumbar puncture) or spinal tap along with blood work. The results should be back after a week and they will tell us if there is a protein present which confirms MS or an infection etc. I will need to lay low for a 1-2 days after the test so we didn't want to do it before Thanksgiving.
That is the latest and greatest so far. My brother Keith is on his way over from Seattle and we are going to spend the next few days in Twin Falls with Mom and Larry. Our goal is to rest and enjoy the time with our family. We have learned over the years that you can't be too thankful for your good health!
I wish everyone a wonderful holiday and I thank you for your positive thoughts and prayers. I will post when I know more!
